Our Origin Story
Opening of Toronto Office
Dirk Lubker founded INVIRO Engineered Systems Ltd. in Toronto, originally focused on mechanical design-build services and project management for office buildings. The name “INVIRO” was coined to represent the firm’s commitment to designing optimized “internal environments.” Around the same time, Noel Hynds operated his own engineering practice, Noel Hynds and Associates, with a complementary focus on mechanical building systems and consulting. The two leaders, along with Dusan Pristach, later joined forces – bringing together their experience, technical depth, and shared vision to form what is now INVIRO Engineered Systems Ltd. This collaboration laid the foundation for the first generation of this integrated, multi-disciplinary, multi-generation firm, which INVIRO has become today.

From Pencil to Screen
We transitioned from hand-drafted drawings to AutoCAD, ushering in the new era of design and by enabling digital creation, modification, and documentation of designs.
In the early days, we worked long hours at our drafting tables, sketching every detail by hand. It was slow, meticulous work, but it laid the foundation for the precision and care that still define us today.”
Introduction of BAS Engineering
We added Building Automation Systems (BAS) to our capabilities, enabling smarter, integrated control of building environments for improved efficiency and occupant comfort.
Launch of Energy Modelling Services
In response to the growing demand for sustainable design, we incorporated energy modelling to optimize building performance and reduce environmental impact through data-driven analysis.
Launch of LEED and Sustainability Consulting
We strengthened our commitment to green building by offering LEED and sustainability consulting, guiding clients through certification processes and evolving environmental standards.
Addition of Incentive and Energy Grant Services Nationwide
To support clients’ sustainable initiatives, we began assisting with energy incentives and grants, making energy-efficient upgrades more accessible and financially viable.
Expansion into Electrical Engineering
Broadening our expertise, INVIRO acquired D.W Cameron and Associates (established in 1980) to introduce electrical engineering services, providing fully integrated mechanical and electrical solutions under one roof.
Opening of West Coast Office
We grew our geographic footprint with the launch of an office in the west coast, enhancing our ability to serve clients across Canada’s west coast.
Adoption of BIM Services
Implementing Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology improved our design precision, collaboration, and project delivery efficiency.
Introduction of Fire Protection Engineering
We further diversified by adding fire protection engineering, ensuring safer building designs that comply with rigorous safety standards.
Opening of Ottawa Office
To better serve clients in Eastern Canada, we established a new office in Ottawa, reinforcing our commitment to nationwide reach and localized expertise.
